Welcome to the Team Crill Page, in Honor of Oliver Crill!
My son Oliver went into respiratory distress around noon on Friday, March 3rd at almost 4 weeks old. My husband Robert and I rushed him to Bronson's Emergency Department where he was stabilized and admitted to Bronson Children's Hospital. He was diagnosed with RSV (Respiratory syncytial virus) and Haemophilus influenzae type B, a bacterial infection in his lungs that caused pneumonia.
Ollie's condition continued to worsen. He was transferred to the Pediatric ICU within hours of admittance and intubated the following morning. He spent 13 days on the ventilator, paralyzed and sedated, while his lungs struggled to heal. I spent 4 weeks at his bedside, watching his body swell till he was unrecognizable, before any signs of recovery.
I drew my strength, daily, from the incredible doctors, nurses, and support staff. They were always available to lend a hand or answer questions, and I know they had Oliver's best interest at heart.
Without the medical intervention Bronson Children's Hospital provided, my son wouldn't be alive today, and I can think of little in my life I am more thankful for.
Please join me in support of Bronson Children's Hospital by making a donation or attending the 5K Run & Walk on Sunday, September 24, 2017, a fun, family-friendly event supporting the only children's hospital in southwest Michigan!
